It doesn’t make sense for this to be China, especially now, when relations between Singapore and China are strong—the Prime Minister was just in China for a high-profile visit.

Mandiant is an American cybersecurity firm, and they frequently blame either China or Russia for such incidents.

This was likely carried out by a third party trying to drive a wedge between China and Singapore.

The rest could easily be faked to hide the true origin. As if Chinese hackers would be careless enough to insert Chinese characters into the code for their targets to easily analyze—or use real Chinese IPs in their attacks.

People should apply more critical thinking before accepting these claims."

About a week since this news and I have checked around. So far no further intel on this attack or IOCs released by CSA Singapore. Mandiant was engaged for investigation and the only statement they released are generic response on a typical APT behavior such persistence, security controls evasion etc.

I'm more inclined to finger the Chinese. Singapore is a threat to China should they actually kick off the next world war.

We've one of the few parts in the region with the infrastructure to support an American super carrier, not to mention we have the capacity to shut down China bound shipments of food and critical material like fuel. If we went that route, we could have 50 million Chinese dead from starvation in a year.

More over we do have examples of them having hacked us before with the singhealth hack. Not to mention how they've been plying the wechat and other Chinese owned social media firms to propagate pro CCP propaganda in Singapore.

The Israelis by comparison dont have any interests in SEA, most of their operations have long been focused on the middle east. We dont have anything in the region worthwhile for them to stage anything significant.

I've heard tell that the Chinese have quite a number of their long range missiles aimed at Singapore, given how our defense poature has shifted away from the Malaysians to unspecified long range threats, I believe those rumours.
